How is your Happiness scale?


On a scale of 1 - 10, where are you sitting?


Have a moment to shut your eyes and really think about this.

I don't mean, ‘yeah life is ok’. I mean, are you truly happy?


This is sometimes a hard and confronting question to ask ourselves, but the first step to any change is awareness.

Are you that person that thinks I'm going to be happy when………..………

When I finish my University Degree or I'm going to be happy when I get married, or, you know, I'm going to be happy when I get the next job promotion.


The thing is, so many of us are waiting for happiness, we're all sitting on the edge of the side line waiting for what we think is going to bring us happiness.

The truth is, those things actually won't give us happiness, they might for a moment. Wow I got the job promotion. That feels great. Then well….what’s next?


Are you sitting on the side line still waiting for something that you’ve been waiting for? How long do you wait?

Happiness is an Inside Job

Lesson one, Happiness is your Number 1 Job.


Happiness is a conscious choice you get to make every day.


That sentence above, up until this day has been the biggest lesson I have ever learnt.


No matter what's going on in my life, and yes life is life, it sure has its ups and downs. There are going to be days where you’re smiling from ear to ear because you won the lottery or you've been out for a great night with your girlfriends and you just had so much fun and had a really good laugh. Those days that you just feel so high on life.


There will also be days where it's a little bit more stressful, the bills are piling up and you are feeling a little tight and uneasy about how you are going to pay for everything or feeling stressed about where you could possibly find the money this time.


Maybe you've had an argument with your partner or with your boss and are feeling super frustrated and angry. You can feel the steam coming out your ears.


But no matter what is ‘going on’, on the outside you have the choice of what is ‘going on’, on the inside.


How do we stay calm, centred, smiling and joyful in our life even when we have what feels like shit going on everywhere we look?


What you choose to feel and how you choose to interact with yourself in the world is your choice.


Tomorrow you could wake up and the alarm goes off and you go, ‘Oh, I don't want to go to work today’. Or you wake up and go, ‘Oh my goodness, yes, I'm alive again. I have a breath. I have a body. Today I want to make sure that I get the most out of my day.’


Your life is your choice and no one else’s.


Your happiness and how happy you feel is again your choice. No one else is going to fill that bucket for you.


When you decide to take ownership of your life that includes your everyday situation and you no longer play victim, you discover that happiness is a conscious choice.


That each and every day you have the ability to make that choice. That's when the happily ever after ending starts to make sense.


That's when you understand that you can't possibly control everyone else around you or what is going on everywhere in the world. But YOU CAN control YOU, you can control how you choose to respond, react and what stories you choose to tell and listen to.
