What does perfect even mean?
Are you Perfect?
What does perfect even mean?
The definition in the dictionary is - having all the required or desirable elements – absolutely and completely.
This notion of perfect has really got me thinking as we all want to be perfect, we want the perfect house, we want the perfect partner, we want to look perfect. The pressure to be perfect is everywhere.
But THERE IS NO SUCH THING. Perfection is an illusion for example, when we get the perfect house will it still be perfect?
For so long I thought that I was not perfect, looking in the mirror, I hated the pimples I saw, I always compared myself to the girls in the magazines as they always looked perfect, of course they do because they are all air brushed and it is not real.
It is so sad that in our society so many people want and strive for this perfect look and lifestyle and instead of seeing the perfect moments in everyday and the wonderful things about themselves they are always looking for more, comparing to others.
I do think that the media has a lot to play for the way that our society is brainwashed to think that we are not enough. Every ad on TV is about getting something to make ourselves look better. Whether it be whiter teeth, make-up, weight-loss pills. If you look at every ad around it’s basically telling us that we need something to be better to become this illusion of perfect.
Research has shown us that on average only 4% of woman think that they are beautiful - this is so sad. Women are gorgeous but we are conditioned to think we are not. The most popular app that is used in 80 countries across the world is Facebook. There are so many people changing their photos retouching them so that they feel they can share this with their network.
But when is it enough? The average age of depression has already gone from 29 years old to 14 years old. We need to do something to change, we need to get out of the conditioning and learn that we are ENOUGH.
The thing is what we think about we bring about. So if you think you are not good enough- guess what you won’t be good enough but if you think you are enough then that is exactly what you will be.
So for me this week I am spending time on being okay and not just okay but really accepting me every day, loving my body, my face and even my pimples. In my work I am always striving for more, to achieve more to get more of my goals kicked off, to be the best but I’m changing my attitude. It’s not about being the best, it’s not about being perfect for me, it’s just about doing my best.
When I go to sleep at night I know that I did my best, and maybe tomorrow I can be that little bit better. My aim is not to be perfect but to be that little bit better and do that little bit more than I did the day before.
How can you change your thinking because believe me you are amazing, you are beautiful and you are enough.
